Helping Children Know and Love God

Children learn faith through the people who love them, the prayers they share, and the welcome they experience at church. Christ on the Mountain offers formation for children and support for parents as they help their family grow in faith.

Whether your child is just beginning to learn about God, preparing for a sacrament, or ready to keep growing after sacramental preparation, there is a place to begin.

Religious Education

Our children’s religious-education program gives young people an age-appropriate introduction to Scripture, prayer, Catholic teaching, and the life of the Church. It also recognizes that parents are the first teachers of faith at home. Parish formation is meant to support, not replace, the faith you share with your child each day.

Children preparing for Reconciliation, Confirmation, or First Eucharist receive additional preparation with their families. The sacraments are important moments in a child’s life of faith, and we want families to feel informed and accompanied throughout the process.

A Place for Children in Worship

Children belong at Mass. On selected Sundays, Children’s Liturgy of the Word gives children ages 4 through 7 a chance to hear and reflect on the Sunday readings in a way that meets them at their age level. After the opening prayer, Fr. Witold will invite the children to come forward. They will then follow the instructors out of the worship space to a gathering room and return to the worship space just before the collection.

Pray as a Family

Family prayer does not have to be formal or complicated. It can begin with a simple prayer at bedtime, a moment of gratitude, or coming to church together. Parish family prayer gatherings offer another gentle way for parents and children to grow closer to God together.
